FDA Front-of-Package Nutrition Labeling

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has proposed a Front-of-Package (FOP) nutrition box rule for many packaged foods. The goal is to give consumers a quick glance at three nutrients: Saturated Fat, Sodium, and Added Sugars, and classify these as either Low, Medium, or High based on the % Daily Value. FOP has been in use outside of the U.S. for several years. The rule has not yet been finalized, so compliance dates have not been set.
